Training Contract

Broadfield’s training contract follows the SQE route. Trainees undertake four six‑month seats across two years (four seats total). There is a comprehensive induction, department-specific structured programmes and desk-side mentoring from supervisors. The firm recruits one year in advance so future Trainees can complete SQE exams before starting. Client secondments are offered to interested trainees. Trainees are normally based in a home office but may be required to complete a seat in another office to meet business needs.

Sponsorship

SQE Support

A paid two‑week immersive placement run in June in the London, Reading and Southampton offices. Participants experience two different practice areas, skills workshops, networking and supervised work on live matters. Students are assigned a supervisor for each seat and supported by a Trainee buddy and the Early Talent team. Strong vacation performance can lead to an invitation to the in-person assessment centre and a training contract offer.

London Solicitor Apprenticeship 2027

A six‑year Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship combining four days a week working in the firm with one day a week studying for an LLB in Legal Practice and Skills and the SQEs through the University of Law. Broadfield covers tuition and assessment fees. Apprentices rotate seats annually, receive partner and senior lawyer exposure, and are paid a salary throughout the programme; in years five and six they are paid a Trainee salary while maintaining yearly rotations to allow focus on exams.

Advised Digital Voices on sale to PMG

Broadfield acted for Jennifer Quigley‑Jones, founder and CEO of Digital Voices, on the sale of the global influencer marketing agency to PMG. The work covered commercial, transactional and integration advice as the business joined PMG’s ecosystem; the Broadfield team included corporate partners and supporting legal directors, associates and a trainee solicitor, demonstrating partner-led execution on founder-led transactions.

Corporate & M&A

Secured Purns Mill Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) habitat bank for Vortal Homes

Broadfield’s residential development and planning teams negotiated permission and drafted the Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan for 16 hectares at Purns Mill, Gillingham, Dorset, enabling the creation of a BNG habitat bank to unlock residential development. The firm prepared template BNG agreements to be used for future sites and drafted sale agreements for BNG units sold to developers.

Advised Hypnos Beds on a new financing facility

Broadfield’s banking & finance team acted on a financing package for British mattress manufacturer Hypnos Beds, advising on the new lending arrangements and commercial financing structures to support the client’s operations and growth (transaction announced May 2025).
