Innovation

Quick Application Angles

  • Reference Mills Selig’s award credentials (Corporate Law Firm of the Year 2022 & 2024) and a recent corporate exit or funding deal (for example the Hospital Services sale or the £6.5m Whiterock funding) to show commercial awareness and explain why you want to train in a firm focused on high‑value transactions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the firm’s people‑first culture: mention interest in joining internal committees (diversity, wellbeing, charity) and give examples of relevant volunteering or event organisation to show cultural fit.
  • Tailor applications to the Belfast/IPLS route: make clear you are (or will be) registered with the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and explain how your coursework and practical experience prepare you for a two‑year training contract with partner‑led supervision.
  • Show practical examples of teamwork and client service (e.g. commercial internships, charity projects, pro‑bono work or part‑time roles) rather than relying on grades alone — Mills Selig emphasises hands‑on experience and client exposure for trainees.
