Training Contract

Transactional associates in New York undertake a nine-month rotational scheme: three rotations of three months each across three of seven transactional groups to help determine practice focus and build cross-practice relationships. Rotations are accompanied by an intensive core training series including drafting workshops, and associates have assigned partner mentors with regular development discussions. Litigators follow Advocacy@Milbank (multi-year staged workshops and a tiered writing programme). Mid- to senior-associates attend Milbank@Harvard for one week annually across three modules.

Gulf of Suez Wind Farm Project – Egypt (Project Finance)

Milbank advised export credit agencies (JBIC and NEXI) and international and Egyptian lenders on the financing of the $400 million 262.5 MW Gulf of Suez wind farm near Port Said. The deal was financed with export-credit and commercial lender support, involved a ~24 month construction period and a 20-year operations/maintenance term for the sponsor consortium (Engie, Toyota Tsusho and Orascom); it was recognised at the GTR Best Deals Awards.

Reliance Jio Infocomm / K-SURE Loan Facility – India (Project/Trade Loan Financing)

Milbank advised the lead arrangers and facility agent Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE) and participating commercial banks on a multi‑billion dollar telecom financing for Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.; K-SURE provided a $1 billion trade loan (the largest Indian loan covered by K-SURE) in relation to the project.
